Adapting Solar Hot Air Panels for Reuse

As part of our ongoing educational series SEAREI will be hosting its next "Energy Share" community forum and potluck on Thursday, April 9th at the Women's City Club at 375 Middle St. in Portsmouth.  The topic will be " Adapting Solar Hot Air Panels for Reuse."

SEAREI has 95 solar hot air panels available to members and other organizations, from a large decommissioned solar heating system in Colorado.  We have refurbished some of these panels and produced a "How To" installation manual that includes step by step instructions, photos, and cost estimates.  These panels are a good DIY project for someone interested in low-cost solar heating. We will be presenting the manual, demonstrating how these panels work and discussing how they can be adapted to your residential heating needs.

Come enjoy a pot luck dinner at 6:30 pm, followed by a presentation and discussion at 7:15 pm.  As always, this is a "zero waste" event, so please bring your own place setting if possible, as well as a dish to share.

Also, if this solar heating opportunity interests you further, we will be offering a hands-on "Skill Share" workshop on Saturday, May 23rd  at the Port City Makerspace in Portsmouth.  Participants in this workshop will gain practical experience by actually refurbishing one of the Solar Hot Air panels.  Details to follow - but put it on your calendar and let us know on April 9th or contact Kevin Beane at if you'd like to participate in this workshop.
